North Ayrshire's Beech Avenue road is 0.4 miles long and goes through the estate of Hunterston.

The Beech Avenue is located between Highthorn Road and the Castle Avenue/Old Road and stretches for about 3/4 of a mile. Officially the trees continue down to the castle via the Old Road but there are not may remain standing due to weather and natural disasters.
+
The Old Road starts at the Castle Gate and finishes at the beginning of Largs Avenue. This is an old dirt track and was the original road prior to the A78 being built.

Behind the main beech Avenue trees there are a mix of Sycamore and Oak trees. Along the stretch of the avenue there is a small stone wall a few feet in height but due to age and tree roots it is also in poor repair and also somewhat hidden from view due to grass and moss.
+
This road is single track and passes along side the Big Wood. In emergencies during the 1970s and 80s when the A78 was blocked the police sometimes divert the traffic though Hunterston along the old road.

A lot of the trees have carvings in their bark, this was a popular thing to do in the 1960s and 70s, many young people would carve their names or other things into the bark with their pocket knifes. Over the years the trees grew and the markings become more visible and a time capsule of peoples history.

The road is designated the road number U35.
