==History==
The signal box opened in 1878 and closed on the 14th September 1986. The box was just north of South Beach Station and controlled the junction for the short line to Ardrossan Harbour and the connection to some of the stabling sidings at Ardrossan Town Station.

The Glasgow & South Western Railways extended the line from Ardrossan (Holm Junction) to West Kilbride in March 1878 for goods trains and created a triangular junction with the existing line at Ardrossan and joined at Castlehill Junction and a new junction was created called Parkhouse Junction and the other apex was Holm Junction. Passenger trains ran to Ardrossan and reversed there to continue to West Kilbride until South Beach station was opened in 1883.

There was also a signal box situated just north of the junction.
There used to be a triangle here and when it closed there was an operational gap as Holm Junction wasn't provided with an Outer Home signal for movements from Largs. This meant that no train could be accepted from the Largs direction when anything was coming off the Branch and Holm Junction needed to Block Back for any Branch Trains which stopped at South Beach.
