Signal Box
The signal box opened in 1878 and closed on the 14th September 1986. The box was just north of South Beach Station and controlled the junction for the short line to Ardrossan Harbour and the connection to some of the stabling sidings at Ardrossan Town Station.
There used to be a triangle here and when it closed there was an operational gap as Holm Junction wasn't provided with an Outer Home signal for movements from Largs. This meant that no train could be accepted from the Largs direction when anything was coming off the Branch and Holm Junction needed to Block Back for any Branch Trains which stopped at South Beach.
