Stevenston No2 signal box was a Glasgow and South Western Railway type 2 design which opened in 1885. In 1900 a replacement 20 lever Stevens Glasgow Old Pattern/Glasgow and South Western Railway frame was installed. The signal box was scheduled to lose its block post status supervising the adjacent level crossing only on 10th August 1986 with the absolute block section being extended to between Stevenston No1 to Holm Junction signal boxes. The work was postponed until 7th September 1986 and a week later on 14th September 1986 the signal box closed with the level crossing being controlled from Paisley signal box by closed circuit television.
